The Team

Dr Liz Swinburn
MBBS (UNSW) FACEM. MSpMed(UNSW)

Professionally I am a Full Time Emergency Physician at RNSH and have worked there and at other hospitals for over 30 years.

My involvement with Rugby has predominantly been through my children. All 3 have played in some capacity with the eldest playing at Shore and Gordon. With Gordon he played through all the representative teams then Colts to First grade. Through this I became the Gordon Dr, and then was elected a board member for 5 years. My youngest has done many years of refereeing across Sydney. I was also elected to be on the Sydney Rugby Union Board from 2016 to 2019.

Hence, I have watched many games of Rugby over the last 30 years and have made many friendships as well.

I am a councillor on ASMOF, which provides, amongst other things industrial advice for salaried Medical Officers in NSW.

HIRU combines Medicine and Rugby and advocacy. I see acute spinal and head injuries first hand in my day to day work and also see the long term spinal patients when they present with complications of their chronic condition. It is an honour to be involved in an organisation dedicated to improving their lives.
