Richard joined Rugby Australia in September 2022 as they prepare to host a number of major events including a British & Irish Lions tour in 2025, a men's World Cup in 2027 and women's World Cup in 2029. Prior to joining Rugby Australia Richard worked at the National Rugby League (NRL) for 8 years. Having been the NRL Salary Cap Auditor as part of the NRL Integrity Department he became CFO in May 2020. During his time as NRL CFO Richard delivered on an extensive cost out program, led large aspects of the funding negotiations with both the players association and Clubs, played a major role in the NRL becoming the first Australian professional league to return to the field in 2020 at the outbreak of Covid, was a key participant in the relocation of 13 Clubs to Queensland in the 2021 season and was a member of the ‘17th Club Expansion Board’. Richard began his career in the Deloitte UK Consulting Practice before moving out to Australia in 2010 to take up a role at the Deloitte Sydney office. He is a fan of the Newcastle Falcons having spent many a cold day in his youth cheering on the team from the stands.
